"Things we want to archive……."

The things that only time can tell you.. and time can give to you.. and time can say...

Archiving is a meaningful act because it is the only way to reflect on our past lives once they are archived. This exhibition captures the traces of the records of various artists that show time accumulated in one place. The message of this exhibition is to make people take the time to think about their past life archives through time to look beyond their work and look inside the artists’ artwork about how they have archived their thoughts and to show it in their way.

Writings and paintings served as an optical transmission of thoughts and stories in my head and have been a way of layering my thoughts. Words, inspiration, time, and emotions that float in your head sometimes produce different results depending on the story and what tools fit your use. The first time expressing your thoughts would be the same, but gradually, other stories become another big story. Records are a layer of time and a meaningful process because embodied and metaphorical expressions overlap and create their interpretations and expressions.

Words hovering in your head are not thoughts that come to mind at one moment, but various experiences must repeat and overlap to create a single sentence. These sentences accumulate to become a paragraph and an essay. Depending on how each person intends to express themself, sometimes the expression changes depending on the tool. Sometimes we sit in front of the keyboard or draw sketches with pencils depending on what we think and what ideas we want to express. Nowadays, most people record the moment with photos on their phones and use digital tools instead. As various media and methods increase, tools, expressions, and ideas tailored to individuality are diversifying.

However, at the beginning of the recording, there is "paper." Smooth screens and hard keyboards are convenient, but paper has a different feeling that allows you to touch them directly with your hands and reveal your personal and natural story. When we write a diary, we write it down with a pencil on paper. Fix your posture, sharpen a pencil on a rolling pencil sharpener, and continue with a long breath to write down your thoughts. In this era, the number of actions to make something through your hands gradually disappears.

“Records are a layer of time and a meaningful process.”

“Expression changes depending on the tool.”
