Chaesang, a box made by coloring thinly sliced bamboo shells in color and weaving rings in geometric patterns, was used as a container for storing clothes, ornaments, and bedding during the Joseon Dynasty when furniture was not typical. It was famous not only among aristocrats but also among the common people as a wedding item, and it is said that it was used to contain precious items such as waste bags and dowry. Before industrialization, our ancestors used wisdom from nature to create the foundation of life. Now that we live in an era where scarcity is lost, and beauty and convenience overflow like a flood, we feel more keenly these days how noble our ancestors' minds about nature and things must have been. Space B-E goes beyond preserving tradition’s inheritance and continues to worry about future use and transformation.
This exhibition aims to tell the story of its use by combining the private box of Sin-Jeong Seo, the holder of the National Intangible Cultural Heritage List, with the mattress brand 60 seconds, which develops a brand story with the motif of "ease." Modern residential culture has increased storage space and lived next to me with unnecessary items and the dream of a broader, more convenient house. Why don't you step back from the convenience of civilization created by technology and speed and focus on your mind that will unfold in your own space? It will be a time to imagine what it would be like to have a few things in my most private space. May everyone be allowed to "ease" through removing, emptying, clearing their disorganized minds, and focusing on themselves?
